DESCRIPTION

The clean waters around Canada's Vancouver Island are home to humpback whales, orcas and bald eagles.

These famous animals are not the only ones benefiting from the area's isolation and water heated by undersea vents.

Lurking in the depths is the elusive Pacific giant octopus.

Growing up to 7.5 metres wide, these massive cephalopods are clever, and powerful enough to tackle and kill a shark.
