The dry season in Tanzania's Ruaha Valley transforms not only the landscape, but also the relationships between the local wildlife. Creatures both big and small are forced into dangerously close proximity as the dry season progresses. Small warthogs and zebra and Kudu offer but a snack compared to the feast a buffalo provides for a hungry pride. As the mighty buffalo shows signs of weakness from the heat and lack of food and water, the cunning lion keeps a watchful eye for any opportunity to strike. If they don't act in time, the rains will come, the herds will dissipate, and the lions will lose their chance at a buffalo until next season.
