Imagine ten days of a catastrophic blackout. Day one: subways grind to a halt and cities deal with gridlock. Day 2: refrigerated food spoils and emergency services are stretched thin. Day 3: some people are without water; supermarket shelves are nearly empty. And theres seven more frantic and deadly days to go. American Blackout, a two-hour premiere movie event, examines the repercussions of a cyber attack that wipes out the power grid, in real time, as though it were actually happening. Gritty, visceral and totally immersive, the film weaves together fictional stories of everyday Americans whose lives are thrown into chaos alongside a prepper family that has prepared for the worst. It uses crowdsourcing for material taking startling home footage from recent real blackouts and other disasters and intercutting it with dramatic shot footage. See what it would take to survive from day one, and who would be left standing when the lights came back on.
