Pandas are on the brink of extinction. Years of habitat destruction and human encroachment have caused numbers in the wild to dwindle to an alarming low.  Some believe there is little hope for the survival of the species and have resigned themselves to the fact that the panda will soon be relegated to the history books. For the Chinese however, losing the panda forever is unthinkable and a quest to save the species has begun. The challenge has been great.  Very little is known about the behaviour and breeding patterns of these shy mountain creatures.
