In Slammed!: Inside Indie Wrestling, National Geographic takes you into the ring and deep inside the world of indie pro wrestling—from the promoters who struggle to put on a successful show to the colorful performers who literally risk life and limb to reach stardom. While the action in the ring may be choreographed, the falls and blows night after night can lead to permanent injury. But injuries are not the only challenges these wrestlers face. When they aren’t in the ring, they are on the road traveling to the next event, at the gym, training in the ring, or developing their wrestling personalities. There is little time for family, relationships, or even a part-time job. The sacrifices to make it to the top are staggering and the odds of success are slim.
