    Harvest Moon, Season 1 | Episode 1

Making a living off the land is tough, but for some, they wouldn't have it any other way. For Ray Turner, this means constantly rebuilding his eel weir in preparation for the annual eel migration on the Delaware River. Ray battles the fast moving river current to move large rocks and repair the weir breaches. For Billy Taylor and his sons, surviving off the land means hunting in the dense Appalachian Mountains for the prized root ginseng. The Taylors have their first big order of the season, but they must first survive an encounter with a venomous snake in order to dig up the seng. Bloodworm hunters Andy and Jim are racing against the incoming tide of the Maine mudflats. One wrong step and they could be stuck, waist-deep, in quicksand-like mud pits. Burl hunter Greg is searching for Box Elder burls, but only has one day to do it. Greg and Al will have to risk their safety if they want to drag the burls from the canyon before the sun sets.
