    BMW 2002 Turbo, Season 4 | Episode 7

In the late 1960s BMW were looking to break into the US market and the sports saloon they created to make the right waves was the 2002, a 2 litre, 100bhp tourer, it instantly became a successful race car with Hans Stuck winning the Nurburgring 24-hour race in 1970. As a result the 2002 arrived in the states in 1967 to instant success and rapid and highly profitable sales. BMW didn't rest on its laurels, in 1973 they started producing a fuel injected turbo version of the 2002 : the tii. Launched at the 1973 Frankfurt Motor Show it was BMW's, and Europe's, first turbocharged production car, it produced 170 bhp and had a top speed of 115mph and where its predecessor had been a success on the track the tii continued on the World rally Circuit where it went on to win many rallies and hill climbs. In actuality only 1,672 Turbos were ever built, but they achieved BMWs aim of making them a World renowned brand name in a few short years and salvaging the tatters or the BMW distribution network in the US. With its striking 'shark nose' front end the 2002 set the style that BMWs were to follow to this day. Very few 2002tiis now exist making them not just a fun car to drive but also a sure fire commodity on the classics market.

In this episode of Supercar Megabuild, Engineers Ralph Hosier and Ranen Rudra face what seems an impossible task set by pop star client Shane Lynch: take his refined, elegant, 1979 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, and turn it into an all out, bad boy styled drift machine. This will be the ultimate challenge even for the experienced engineers - they've never done a drift car before and certainly not one based on a prestige brand like Rolls Royce. It's a journey that will take them to the home of drifting, Japan, where they'll learn the skills and mechanics of this motorsport from the best in the business. The Rolls Royce they have been given by their mentor Afzal Kahn is owned by pop star Shane Lynch, and as part of the package they'll need to give the car a complete restyling package, as well as going back to the drawing board with the mechanics of the vehicle. In a spectacular finale the Rolls will be handed over to Shane at an international drifting contest in Ireland - will the client like the car, and more importantly, will it be able to go sideways round the track, drifting and doing the job it was never designed to do?!

The later 1991 Range Rover Vogue that Tim & Fuzz collect symbolized freedom and happy days for Margaret, her husband and their family. Used to tow their caravan all over the UK, this 4 wheel drive was always dependable that durable. Now a sad reminder of better times, the car is in desperate need of some TLC; Enter CarSOS. Fuzz stresses when he realizes the whole car is tired, rusty and likely to be a world of parts finding pain. For Tim it's a challenge he cant resist, coming up with the blag of his life to make this big project possible. The biggest challenge of all though is making the car accessible for Margaret who, with her disability getting worse, has started to really struggle to climb on board the tall car. Fuzz and Tim decide the way forward is to fit a whole new adjustable air suspension system. Finding a way to fit that in among the crowded body shell as well as overhauling tired major components such as both front and rear axles, keeps Fuzz flat out for days. Tim meanwhile sets out to find out how to make the best veneer in the country. All this, plus replacement parts in every other nook and cranny of this complex car, plus the usual spectacular paint job, result in a massive transformation.
