After trying a few natural medicinal remedies, his condition improves in time for his daughter Briar's visit to the woods. Over in the mountains of California, Gabriel prepares for a boar hunt with the help of his friend Justin by forging a spear. Under cover of night, they embark on their hunt and soon encounter a large predator.

And across the country, in drought-stricken central California, primitive hunter Gabriel sets his sights on small game. Disappointed with the results at first, his luck soon changes.
