What happened to him next is anyone's guess but the search for him starts over in town. Into the Jungle
+At first, Ken and Carson believe Pata de Lora is a person of interest in the case of Cody Roman Dial's disappearance and possibly murder when his name comes up several times by locals, but he quickly becomes a prime suspect. To investigate Pata, they hire him as a tour guide, instructing him to lead Ken down the same trail that he led Cody. While trekking through Corcovado National Park, Ken and Pata encounter a local, illegal gold miner named Guicho. Suddenly, Pata's behavior becomes suspicious. He demands they leave, which concerns Ken. Finally, they exit the jungle and Ken now has more questions than answers. Like who is Guicho and was he involved...
The Interrogation
+Ken and Carson devise a plan to get a confession out of prime suspect Pata de Lora: Ken will walk with Pata through the jungle, which will physically wear him out. Meanwhile, Carson sets up an interrogation shack where they will rendezvous and Carson will interrogate Pata. He hopes for a confession, but after Carson promises Pata will be protected by local law enforcement, Pata confesses who killed Cody: Guicho and his two sons. Still, Roman has reservations; he believes that Pata is a liar and an unreliable witness. A Father's Plea
+Ken and Carson are moving along with the investigation, but without preamble, they are thrown a curve ball they did not see coming. They thought they could get an admission from Guicho using local informants, but it turns out those informants work for Guicho. Carson, road-blocked, reaches out to former colleague, who advises them to approach Costa Rican authorities in order to put pressure on local government. The only problem: the one person whose testimony could push the investigation forward, Pata de Lora, does not trust the government. The Confrontation
+Ken and Carson return to Costa Rica and reconnect with Peggy and Roman. With the aid of Pata de Lora, they will lead cadaver dogs into the jungle to search for Cody's remains. After the first day yields no results, they search along the beach. Roman, deeply frustrated, confronts Pata and catches him in two lies: the frugal Cody would never pay $300 a day for a tour guide and Cody did not have a sleeping bag with him in the jungle.
