Synopsis

The history of the inhabitants of the sea began over 3 million years before animals took their first steps on dry land. At the dawn of the world, life conquered all marine environments, from tropical waters to ice deserts, from coastal shores to the open sea. In this four part special, National Geographic takes you deep into the Kingdom of the Oceans.

  • Predator's Paradise

    Coral polyps are the tiny animals that have changed the geography of our planet. They construct underwater mountains to shelter an extraordinarily diverse group of species, of every color, every shape and every behavior. They even offer a peaceful lagoon for the mother whale and her newborn calf.
