Synopsis

Team Sayari (Kiswahili: sayari = planet) is a show about a group of young, budding conservationists who along with FUNZI, an AI computer represented as a large, glowing, DNA double helix, are Africa’s protectors working from a fun and high-tech base known as Sayari basecamp.

  • Oceans or Plastic?

    Team Sayari learn that Single use plastic is harmful to marine life. FUNZI sends them on a journey to discover how plastics reach our oceans and how to help prevent it.

  • Elephants vs Bees

    Team Sayari are surprised that an insect as tiny as a bee can scare an animal as large as an elephant. FUNZI sends them out to find out why.

  • Our Planet Our Home

    +

    Team Sayari learn about the mysteries of space, why Earth is uniquely suited for life and why we should take care of our planet.

  • Unexpected Heroes

    Team Sayari learn about former poachers who have turned a new leaf and are now conservationists at the forefront of anti-poaching efforts. They also learn about an all-female anti-poaching unit in the South Africa who are making big strides in conservation.

  • Bees

    Team Sayari learn about the importance of bees and why we need to protect them. We are also introduced to a young trailblazer in Tanzania who shares how to handle bees safely.

  • Fantastic Beasts

    Lion numbers have greatly decreased across Africa. Team Sayari goes on an mission to learn more about these fantastic beasts and why they are under threat.

  • Forests

    Team Sayari learn about the various forests found in Africa, their importance to our ecosystem, the wonders of their biodiversity and why they are under threat.

  • Strange Creatures

    Team Sayari learns that what makes some creatures strange is actually what allows them to survive and contribute to their ecosystems. We learn why their special features are important to them and how these characteristics allow them to operate best in their environments.

  • Ferocious Fliers

    Team Sayari get up close and personal with predator and scavenger birds. The team talks to experts who share the importance of these birds to the enviroment and break myths and misconceptions about them.
