Synopsis

Wild Amazon will take us on a journey into the heart of the greatest river basin in the world. Home to the largest rainforest and mightiest river on earth, where there's more diversity of life than anywhere else, from the elusive jaguar to diminutive leaf cutter ants; where turtles strike as fast as a snake and spiders protect frogs. It's still a mysterious realm. New behaviour and life forms are being discovered all the time. Stunning photography will showcase the diversity and colour of the rainforest along with the people they share their home with. We will explore the extraordinary relationships that have developed between the unlikeliest of creatures while they struggle for survival in the Wild Amazon.

    Dominating the northern half of South America, the Amazon does nature on a grand scale. Home to some of the most unusual wildlife like the red faced uakari, the Amazon is the world's great refuge for jaguars, harpy eagles, and Amazonian manatees. Thousands of miles of dense forest conceal a hidden world of extraordinary stories of adaptation and survival.

    There is no place on Earth quite like it. Turtles strike as fast as snakes and tiny frogs protect huge tarantulas. A beautiful yet brutal realm, the Wild Amazon harbours life that must constantly adapt to survive. Strategies for survival are played out daily from the canopy to the forest floor. Predators like the tarantula live on the ground making it a perilous place.
