SHARK EVOLUTION AND ECOLOGY FACTS

· Sharks live all over the world, from warm, tropical lagoons to polar seas. Some even inhabit freshwater lakes and rivers.

· Sharks are apex predators, and as such, they affect the entire ocean food chain from their position at the top.

· Sharks scales dating back to around 450 million years ago were found in Serbia, leading experts to believe that sharks date back to the Silurian period, when sea levels were high and coral reefs were beginning to form.
